Fifty households in Kent will soon enjoy warmer winters, cooler summers and cheaper energy bills, thanks to energy efficiency improvements that Hyde and the SENE project will be making to their homes, at no cost to them.
We’re a delivery partner in the South East New Energy (SENE) Project, led by the University of East London (UEL). We’re also partnering with Kent County Council, Community Works and Retrofit Works on this project.
Hyde’s Energy Manager, Diana Lock, explained: “These retrofits will improve our customers’ comfort and reduce energy usage, saving them money on energy bills.”
We’ll be using low maintenance equipment that customers will find easy to use, installing low-carbon technologies, such as Solar PV and air source heat pumps as well as ‘fabric first’ measures, like:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- Under floor insulation
- Ventilation measures
- LED lights.
The aim is to build a stronger local economy and speed up the transition to a low carbon economy in the south east of England.
Diana added: “The project will help us towards our target of 100% homes reaching Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C+ by 2030, and our more long-term goal of meeting the Government’s target of reaching ‘Net Zero’ carbon by 2050.”
The SENE project was set up to help customers better understand and move towards reducing carbon emissions. It will also help stimulate the local energy economy by investing in projects, and supporting local businesses that are developing innovative low carbon products, technologies and services, as well as creating jobs and local community regeneration.
